About erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction (ED), also known as impotence, is the inability to get or maintain an erection. It is a common condition in men in the UK, and most men suffer from it at some point in their lifetime. It is widespread in men over 40.

ED can cause significant physical and psychological distress, leading to anxiety, depression, reduced self-confidence and relationship issues. Despite its prevalence, it remains an often uncomfortable topic for many to discuss.

Although there is still some taboo surrounding the topic of ED in many areas due to its sensitivity, both men and women must be aware that it is a common problem, and effective treatments are available if needed.

Causes of erectile problems

Most men occasionally fail to get or keep an erection. This is usually due to stress or tiredness and is nothing to worry about. If it happens more often, it may be caused by physical health or emotional problems.

ED can have a range of causes, including physical conditions such as:

  • High blood pressure or diabetes

  • Lifestyle factors such as smoking or excessive drinking and

  • Psychiatric conditions such as depression or anxiety

Psychological issues are estimated to account for up to 25% of all cases of ED. Stress or feelings of guilt or shame may also play a role in causing ED in some cases.

Offered me a blood pressure check which I happily accepted. Attended on the same day. Asked if it were possible to pay for a flu jab (I’m not eligible yet) and got that at the same time! Excellent!! Very polite and helpful.

I booked the ear syringing service at Midway Pharmacy in Morley through the online booking system. Really friendly and professional service from Sharon. I’m really grateful to be able to hear properly again. The treatment only took a few minutes and Sharon is clearly really well trained at what she does. Thank you again.
